To all you Xbox generation wazers (I won't say wasters), complaining about how some people cheat to get more points to prove they are a bigger wazer than you are. We must congratulate WAZE on a brilliant strategy to get people to work hard for free.

If you have so much free time, why don't you spend some of it working unpaid for a local charity. Or, you can come and work for me for free...(I will even give you a piece of paper with points written on it. - @ a rate of 10 000 points per hour).

Alternatively why not contribute to Open Street Map (like I do)... but, you won't get points to boost your ego.

Hi all. First time poster. I use Waze every weekday. Just started to get PMs regarding the subject of cheating. I don't know are the messages aimed at me or just a friendly note to let me know what is happening on the forum. I can do up to 400 miles a week as a domestic appliance repairman and I like to be active in reporting events on the road, such as traffic jams etc. I don't do much editing anymore as I found others had done a much better job than me. Just wondering what the full story is regarding the cheating as I noticed recently several members has disapeared off the Waze maps. By the way , even though I get PMs I can't see any actual message for me. Am I not searching properly? Thanks for reading , look forward to feedback.

Hi guys,

My name is Ori.
I am a community manager, here at Waze HQ.

I was contacted by one of the Wazers who feels that he was wrongfully accused to be a cheater.

I know that there is nothing as frustrating and enraging as a cheating user who try to get points by doing bogus edits, using scripts or misusing Waze for the benefit of gaining points and seeing his name in the scoreboard.
Let me be very clear about it - We will not tolerate misusing Waze, abusing, cheating and using Waze to harm other people in anyway.

Having said that, I would like to ask you to avoid public shaming of Wazers on the forums.

If you do suspect that any Wazer is cheating or doing actions that might harm the map and your hard work, please contact us - We have tools to check whether users are cheating or harming the map.

The frequency of real cheater is very low nowadays, as we use many automatic tools that prevent abusing the maps and the scoring system.

Thank you for keeping a watchful eye and keeping the map intact, and if you do suspect an abuser, please contact us and avoid posting his username and information in the forum.

Thank you,

Ori

Hi,

As this user contacted me in a private manner, I will respect his privacy, and will not share the correspondence which we had out in the forums.
I have not posted on this forum to accuse anyone with anything.

Please avoid posting usernames of individuals which suspected in cheating, along with information about them out on the forums.

If anyone in the community feels that some individual is abusing the system or doing something that might harm or hurt others, please report it to us at Waze HQ.
This is how we deal with suspected cheaters world-wide.

Thanks,

Ori

Hi Arthur,

Again. I did not accuse any Wazer, nor did I imply that anyone broke any rules or done something that needed an admin action.

All I've asked (and still asking) is that we maintain a certain code of conduct when we have discussion with other Wazers on the forums.

I do believe that we cannot and should not cover every aspect of forum communication between Wazers,as I have great faith in my fellow Wazers - I've been around the Waze forums for roughly 5 years, and I recall only one or two times which I had to ban a user for abusing the forums.

There is no need to continue and look for any subtext or accusations in my or your posts.
Let's continue to keep good atmosphere in the forums.

If you wish to discuss certain Wazers with me, I would be more than happy to work along with you, for the benefit of the Wazers in Ireland.
Please feel free to PM me.

Thank you again,

Ori

Hi Arthur,

I took the liberty of editing a post here in this thread, and remove your name from it as you requested.

I would be happy if you could PM me, so we could start 'tabola rasa', and work together.

Thanks,

Ori

Could it be that some users use the same logins in more than one device?
