Hmm - I've just read up on the detour prevention mechanism and it seems like that would help if the detour was less than 500m long, however in this case, it's more than 500m (but not by much).

I do have an idea though (have a think about it yourself and see if it makes sense - I'm writing this very quickly at work, so I haven't thought about it much):

Add a two very very short segments (just a couple of metres each, so that they're not visible in the client) of major highway just before the exit ramp and just after the entrance ramp that has *no* name except for an alternate name of "R138 S".

*OR* (this might be less of a messy hack than what's above, and that could go wrong in the future if it even works at all):

Shorten the length of the detour to less than 500m. If we shorten the exit ramp, then users will get an exit instruction too late, but we could shave a few metres off the entrance ramp (just enough to bring the total detour length below 500m - add up the segment lengths to see how much is needed). Since there are no user instructions where the entrance map rejoins the R138, this trick should be harmless.

Whichever you do, leave a note on the map for future editors (I haven't used the note-leaving feature much so far, but it could be handy for this kind of thing).

What do you think?

Just did some adding and noticed the total length of the detour is 603m. However, I think the second approach might be the best, if you move the point where the on ramp joins back onto the main road about 110m earlier.

Hi David, I wasn't aware of the detour prevention mechanism, thanks for linking that!

I went ahead and shortened the last ramp of the detour so now the total length is now below 500. As you said there will be no impact on the directions from the app, and hopefully no one will find it annoyingly short. Anyhow, there's also a comment on the map for it.
