I found this list below. If you zoom in google maps some are gone, and some are renamed, some are just MACE. Thought giving them a ring will probably be quicker so I'll keep yous posted when I get around to it.
2: Top/Spar
1: Independent
2: phone number not in use
1: no phone, doesn't exist on Google Maps
1: wrong number
1: no answer
My conclusion is that there are no Excol petrol stations any more.
I've updated the spreadsheet if you want to take another look before I send it off to HQ. One thing I do need help deciding is Top. Which is trading as "top oil" (all lower case on their logo) - shall we normalise it to Top Oil?
I vote for "Top Oil" mainly two reasons.
1. match their company name and main logo
2. anything that is 3 or less characters I (and some scripts/tools) find too short
Stan also vouched for "Top Oil" - do we need more votes?
Also, Petrogas is the mother company of Applegreen so that should be removed too.
Not sure how to check other English speaking countries so I checked my editable areas.
Haven't been to The North recently so here's one from near the border where the list shows both Irish and UK entries (I'm so jealous of the Title Case Topaz):
Germany:
Spain:
In Greece most of the brands with "oil" have it incorporated in the name, but Silk Oil for example has it as a separate word.
