M7 Junction 19 to 21 Road Works

Postby shane_meagher » Fri Jul 05, 2019 12:38 pm

Hi,

Would a Level 3 editor be able to add these road works to the M7 between Junctions 19 and 21?

The works are currently only on the section between Junctions 20 to 21 with a 60kph limit and a lane closure in both directions (so only one lane each way) currently. I couldn't find when this section will finish and the Junction 19-20 start but they are scheduled to complete on 30th August 2019.

Heading west on M7, it starts at eastern end of this segment: https://www.waze.com/editor?env=row&lon=-7.50803&lat=52.91606&s=70360341&zoom=2&segments=331330244

M7 Motorway – Proposed Roadworks / Lane Restrictions

In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations, 1994, Laois County Council hereby serves notice that it has decided to place lane restrictions on the M7 motorway to through traffic between Junction 21 on the M7 and Junction 19 of the M7, during the period 3rd July 2019 to 30th August 2019 to facilitate mainline pavement repair works. A Traffic Management Plan will be in operation.

The works will be undertaken utilising a phased approach and diversions for wide loads, with diverted wide load traffic directed to follow signage along an alternative route. Single lane running will be provided and the motorway will remain open at all time to all vehicles, except for wide loads.

Laois County Council hereby serves notice that it proposes to provide single lane running on the M7 motorway to through traffic between Junction 21 of the M7 and Junction 19 on the M7, on both the M7 westbound carriageway and the M7 eastbound carriageway during this period.

Under Section 10 of the Road Works Speed Limit Road Traffic Act 2004, it is the intention of Laois County Council to impose a temporary Road Works Speed Limit from 3rd July to end of August from 120kph to 60kph at the above motorway location. The road works speed limit is required to facilitate the above works.

Thanks,
Shane

Thanks for this. If I'm reading it correctly, they're just closing one lane in each direction, so traffic on this section of the M7 can still continue as usual (just more slowly because there's only lane and the speed limit is reduced)?

If the road isn't actually closed completely, then there's nothing to do in Waze. Although there will probably be increased traffic, Waze will hopefully route around it, if there are enough users for Waze to realise that there's heavier traffic than usual.

Did I understand things correctly?
