Text-to-speech for "street" and "saint"

Post by davidg666
I just saw this on the UK forum:

https://world.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=45600

...and it's probably relevant for us here too; we have plenty of roads with various saints in the name, which TTS currently pronounces as "street". If they're named properly, we can get TTS to say "saint" and "street" in all the right places.

This is what they do in UK:L-
"As a part of improving the TTS system in the UK, we have implemented the following rule:
ALL "St" (without a dot) will be read as "Street" and ALL "St." (with a dot) will be read as "Saint", regardless of position.
This rule only apply to "St" with an upper case "S" and a lower case "t". "

Greetings Fellow Editors, Saints and Scholars,

Just to refresh as a faint little reminder on this thread regarding the naming of Streets and Saints in Street segment name/s.

We're leaving "Scholars" out for now! lol.

ALL "St" (without a dot) will be read as "Street" and ALL "St." (with a dot) will be read as "Saint", regardless of position.

This rule only applies to "St" with an upper case "S" and a lower case "t". "

Waze! for the common good, out there on the road.

It was saying this for me a few months ago, but then Waze made a change (partly prompted by South Africa, where they also have N-roads) that seems to work for me - but to pick up the change you need to refresh your TTS cache.

To refresh your TTS cache, enter this in the navigation box (without quotes): "cc@tts". Let us know if it doesn't work...

I agree. Also when Waze is guiding on to any of the National Roads (eg. N8) waze says "turn left on to NORTH 8" and not "N8" like it should be saying. Can this be corrected please.
