Ive been a long time Waze user, but I just noticed a few things when my friend and I were on a road trip together. He is also a wazer. I'm confused to a few things.... Neither of us are connected to any social network
1. Why can't we see each other when we both have Waze open and running?
2. Why do we see different Wazers at times?

A bit more clarification Waze staff has clarified that Waze displays a random sampling of 20 Wazers on your client, if there are a lot of Wazers in your area you could possibly never see each other. That might be a feature to request, the ability to tag friends and upon the approval of tagged friends have said tag-ees always be among the users displayed on your client if within the currently displayed area. But then you still run into the delay issue.

You should be able to see each other, but the other Wazers who show on the map are not shown in real time. It's delayed by a couple of minutes to protect privacy. That makes it impossible to pinpoint what car the other Wazer on the map is in.

If you zoomed out, you'd probably find your friend trailing a mile or two behind.

The screen will only show so many Wazers at one time, so what you see on each screen may be different depending on how many there are in the area.

Good thing I'm reading through all the posts - I have been wondering about this too. Fully understand the privacy issue, seeing as I am from South Africa - the hi-jack capital of the world!!
