Food Banks initiative
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the launch of another great Waze initiative to counter the effects of COVID that will begin rolling out today.
We’re building upon our ongoing COVID-19 food distribution partnership work with WhyHunger and No Kid Hungry and launching a new initiative to empower our users to help their communities by driving donations of essential items to global food banks.
We’re partnering with The Global FoodBanking Network, which is a global network of food banks with the mission to “nourish the world’s hungry through uniting and advancing food banks.” This network supports food banks in 44 countries around the world serving 17M people.
Waze will put the donation locations of The Global FoodBanking Network as blue Pins on the map, and users can also find food bank locations via Search. Feel free to promote on your networks and check it on the map.
We will launch the first phase of 7 countries (Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Colombia, Israel, Guatemala, and Argentina) beginning Monday, December 7. Shortly thereafter, we will launch the remaining countries (for a total of 15-20 countries) in waves.
We hope this initiative will be helpful to both food banks and those in need.
Mauro, on behalf of the Waze Communities Team
