Using 'Delete all board cookies' shortcut below and then logging in again at https://world.waze.com/forum/ucp.php or ucp.php seems to fix the login problem.
That is if nothing else was fixed in the back-end in the meantime.

Tapatalk 2 is definitely screwed, likely permissions related.
Where there should be in excess of 200 new unread messages, it only shows up 10 in my current list.
Favorites only shows Forums, but no subscribed Topics.
When I go to Experts forums, the list shows up, but I cannot view anything past that & get the message 'You are not authorised to read this forum.'
I also have 0 PMs in my Inbox or Sent Items list.

Please, I need my daily 'fix' and the coffee is just not cutting it any more

I seem to have an issue to use the forum via Tapatalk Pro (4) for the last 2/3 days.
It just displays the "Connecting to Server" message and does nothing else. I even removed the Waze Forum and added it back with no user info, but still nada. Other subscribed forums on TT Pro works fine.
Tapatalk 2 also still works like a charm with the Waze forum, so it does not seem like an account or network problem.

Does anyone else have a similar issue, or is this just one of those "if user equals" cases again ?

It was done intentionally by Waze staff due to a perceived security issue.

Personal opinion, if certain image types, such as GIF, are restricted, the threat is mitigated.
Quite a number of forums I am on do not allow animated GIF files, but other file types are unrestricted.

Somehow there seems to be some logic missing in that statement.

As can be seen from my above message I'm already using the [img] tag, so if we're not allowed to use them why are my sig images still there? Makes no sense.

Re-selected the Waze Forum in Tapatalk now, after the start login, don't ask me the authentication anymore.

Why the "announcement" are in all folders and subfolders of the forum? There are some "announcement" have no reason to be in some subfolders. For example "Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg forum" is not useful in "italian waze wiki", isn't it?
Maybe some threads are "spammed" everywhere for an error...
