finding users by username?

i got an email letting me know that a certain user handled a problem report i submitted from within the app. i'd like to discuss this with the user, but can't seem to find a reasonable way to find a user by username in this forum. the user's username begins with an "S", but http://www.waze.com/forum/memberlist.php?first_char=s currently lists 5480 pages of users whose usernames begin with "s" and they don't seem to be in a helpful order :(

help?

Try pasting the username into a PM and click the Add button. This works in most cases.

This is the same for everyone and is based on the current privacy expectations users have when using Waze. We hope this can change again in the future, but what is currently being developed is a way to communicate with the UR submitter via the editor without having to release their username.

You can all use this link:
memberlist.php?form=postform&field=user ... searchuser
Why? The post directly above and another earlier in the thread said the exact same thing. And this thread started at a time when the memberlist in the forum was totally unavailable because the version of phpbb at the time would crash the web server because of the inefficiency of the query pulling the millions of records from the user tables.

You can simply copy the user name out of the email and paste it into a new PM (click on "# new messages" near the top of the screen).

I assume you want to send a PM?
Just type the full username in the provided text entry as it appears and click add. If the user exists, it will accept the name, if not, it will tell you.

In the memberlist you can search for the username. Click on "Find Member", The fist link in the line where all the letters are. "Find a member - All - A B C D E....." ;)

We as editors (well in Australia at least) don't know which user did the Update Request. We just get told it's "User Requested".
It would be handy sometimes to have contact the Usre to gain more insight as to the problem (if it's not that obvious to us to fix). Perhaps restrict the access to the Username to a Level 3 and higher AM?
