Hopefully those 3 years and a billion dollars will mean some added staffing to make some wicked improvements to the app and WME!

I kept telling myself that "I'm not gonna get caught up in rumors again" but this is straight from an Israeli source:

Other than Waze staying independent, this seems the best outcome of all other scenarios.

Congrats to Noam and the rest of the Waze staff!

Yeppers. It makes the most sense from Google's and Waze's point of view. It's a win-win situation. Waze investors gets its big bucks and Google prevents a competitor from getting a leg up on social mapping. One would be silly to think that Google hasn't already been working on its own Waze-like social aspect for Google maps.

It appears that the deal is complete.

Looks like Google/Waze is waiting for Monday morning to come to the US before making the official announcement.

The Israeli workweek begins on Sunday, so the first day of the workweek is already over in Israel. Guess we'll have to wait until the workweek begins in the US.
