That'll be me off then.

I don't want to be a data point/advertising target for FB.

I suppose selling out was always the eventual plan... but Facebook! that has got to be the worst possible option and is the absolute antithesis behind the community spirit that has been the Waze community.

I'm not a Facebook user and never intend to become one.

Lets hope this remains just a rumour.

Why? Even if nothing changes operationally?
Simple: FB is known for not taking privacy matters very seriously. I wouldn't like to (indirectly) support them by using Waze...
Yes, it's about my privacy and probably they start showing adds. How else would they make money of it? If I want to use navigation software from a multi bilion dollar company, I'll take the most complete and user friendly version.

If Facebook buys Waze, I am leaving. No point in using Waze instead of Google Maps.

I'm a bit surprised how many users don't like many things in facebook.

However, looking back we can now understand why all that facebook stuff came into the waze app. Just check some recent "New in this version" when a new beta or production came out.

So many of us complained about things that didn't get fixed for months or even years. Instead of that we saw an increasing number of features we didn't ask for.

OMG , I hope not ..
I am Waze member from two months ago , but if Waze become a part of FB I will leave this beautiful application.
Not only because of adds which I expected to appear of my screen. There is no relation between teenagers house (FB) , and the navigation ..

Pity...

How do you think Waze intended to monetize it?
Fair point. Waze 'as is now' pushing ads and selling (anonymised) traffic intelligence is fine by me, but I do not want to become part of the Facebook ecosystem where I personally become a traded data point.

That is no different from the Waze approach, I'm shocked that people can't see this.
For real. It's capitalism. Everyone is using your data for monetary gain. Google does it, too, oin a big way. Where you gonna get your maps if Waze goes FB?

Waze has always had a business plan, because Waze has always been a business. Maybe it looked like some great charitable crusade for a while, because they hadn't figured out how to monetize it well. For the last couple months, so many have been complaining about the ads without wondering who's paying for the servers they use every day. Now is no different.

If you want programs that benefit everyone without a profit motive behind them, maybe you should consider voting socialist.

Yep, just saw the news and if true then I'll be leaving too. I love Waze but not that much, there are plenty of other options out there and I'll just move on. Have to remember to figure out how to delete my data first though!
