I have had that problem before when I accidentally bump the screen. I have to hit the menu button and select "Me on Map". I'm using an older Crackberry version of the software so it might be different on the newer clients.

I have had a similar issue when my data connection was lost while waze tried to re-route. It just sat there doing nothing. Waze has said that the program expects an always on data connection, so maybe it just does not fail gracefully or even attempt to retry.

Did you happen to notice if the speedometer was displayed and working? Sometimes when my phone decides to play dumb I may or may not get the "No GPS" message, but the speedometer is either not shown at all or only displays zero. In that situation my location either never updates or only updates like once a minute. I usually have to reboot to get back to normal.
