So what are we going to do?

We all agree that we need to set some standards?

I don't think any apply to NZ?

Maybe pick a rural area with lots of the classic kiwi crossroads "village" and set the alternate names, and then in a smaller city do the motorway/primary=city, others=suburb?
This is in full progress now

Whangarei has been done for many weeks, maybe months and nothing bad has happened.

As a guess 80-90% of the south island State Hwy roads now conform to this standard.

Note: SH1 is not named "South Island", that was a silly idea

That's the general consensus

I'm still unsure how to handle rural areas at street/primary level

Rural areas at Highway level im clear that they should not be entered in the primary.

Use this as an example

Looking at the example above, what map do you use as a reference for the area names? I've tried looking for Gumtown in both google and AA maps but neither list it at all. The intersection at the top of Gumtown Rd need to have the turn restrictions fixed and the general road alignment in the area needs some work - in many places the roads are way off both the satellite and GPS tracks.
your a hard man

intersection fixed,thanks

We have only just got high resolution maps in the last few weeks

I'm no overly concerned about precise "general road alignment" as long as the client can follow the segments.........

Whats up with that..................
