Attention ***New*** Waze Editors - New Zealand

Thu Jan 09, 2014 2:18 am

Welcome to Waze New Zealand

It has come to our attention that new editors are not fully reading the how-to provided by the Waze community.

***Update*** Before editing please first Install Waze Tools listed below

WME Validator
WME Toolbox
WME Color Highlights (WMECH)
These 3 are the most important

Please Read

International
Best Map Editing Practice
Junction Style Guide
Roundabouts

New Zealand Specific
New Zealand road type designations
How to label cities (New Zealand)
How to label and name roads (New Zealand)

Key Points

Simplicity
It is not a goal to model the physical roadway lane-by-lane. Doing so often leads to unnecessary complexity--which means a cluttered map, confusing verbal directions, and lots and lots (and lots!) of extra map maintenance.

The number one problem with new editors is creating dual carriageways when single works just fine and in many cases better.

This road was dual carriaged by a new editor, It has now been returned to a single carriageway

If you are unsure ask!!!!!

Many new users don't come to the forum or respond to PM's

If we get no response we will recommended to Waze HQ that that editor be blocked from editing.
