In addition, I will open the sheet for all to see and comment (but not edit). This way, when you submit a closure using the same form, you will be able to visit the sheet and verify that your closure is on the sheet. You can comment if you need to change/update your submitted closure.
There may be another option for all editors to submit closures. I'm working on a poll for all to vote. Please stay tuned.
Looks like the new live closure system is a little buggy. I have two closures in my area that were done the old way through the form and two more that were done new live closure method. The new ones keep disappearing.

Old method closures: here and here are fine.

New method closures: here and here keep going away. I've been responding to the associated UR to get them put back and will continue to do so, but we might want to consider setting a timed restriction as a back up (they are all now locked between 4-6 in attempt to make them stop losing the closure so will need help with said restriction)

Suggestion on the form,
The start/end time example is given as 00:00 and 23:59, but that results in an error that it does not follow format. Seconds are needed 00:00:00 or 23:59:59
It is correct in the example post in this thread, just needs to be added to the doc itself.

This will be an option within WME? :D

My employer blocks access to Google Docs. Is there an alternate link?

Failing that, I could report from home.

Ben, I get closure info locally from a County Government maintained Facebook page from my county. Sometimes, the closure is in an area of the county with which I am not familiar and don't travel often.

Example 1, the official announcement regarding the long term closure of this segment actually stated that a much larger portion of the road would be closed. I live near enough to this area that I was able to do a drive-by to see what segments were ACTUALLY closed.

Example 2, the official announcement regarding the short-term closure of these segments actually indicates this whole section is closed all of this week. I doubt it. I don't have much occasion to drive through Sykesville to check.

What should be done in the case of Example 2?
pumrum wrote: My suggestion, posted here for peer review, is that if a closure only affects a small part of a larger segment, that segment should be broken so that the closure is limited only to the area actually closed. See this segment as an example.

I think I initially had the closure ending 2014-08-31. Should this expire on its own or should there be an update to remove the closure?
Yes and no.

I've noticed that closures sent via this form stop showing as closed on the app at the date and time specified.

However, it seems to generate a UR with a description starting with "[ROADWORKS]" (sic.). The UR does not remove itself automatically. Observing the actions of my RC with respect to these URs, I've started marking them as "Solved" once the closure expires.

Am I imagining things or did this used to be sticky? If not, why not? :)

When making the Permalink for the form, please ensure that minimal layers are enabled.

If you have Toolbox, this can be accomplished by hovering the permalink icon and tapping the Shift key before copying the permalink to your clipboard. You will see a message in the popup tooltip about No Layers. You can toggle layers back on with the shift key afterward.
If you don't have Toolbox installed, simply open the Layers menu and disable all layers except for Aerial Imagery and Roads before collecting your Permalink.
This will help streamline the process for those verifying and transferring your submission to the upload sheet.

Best procedure would be to PM your SM(s) and/or RC to let them know there are closures waiting. There is nothing you could do to change the design of the sheet which would make things "easier". It's a straight copy/paste of a block of columns from the form you can see to the one Waze uses to upload from, then we have to verify the information and fill a few other cells with info, then place the NOTE URs. Not difficult, but not trivial, takes a bit of time, and then there's the matter of getting to it -- your locals might just need a little nudge. ;)

voludu2 wrote:Tonester -- you still use the sheet-based closures rather than WME closures? Does this turn out to be more efficient for you?
Absolutely; for multi-day partial closures, and selected day of the week closures, it's far more efficient.
