misleading voice directions

Post by Laurilettuce
Hi- I am pretty new to Waze and although it will be very useful in the city, when there are really tough navigation issues related to traffic and street directions and closures, find it dangerous and confusing for highway driving.
I want to fix a problem I noticed driving to NYC from Massachusetts on I-91 where it joins I-95 at New Haven. The voice directions say, "Stay Right" but in fact one is actually staying in the middle to enter the I-95 on-ramp, not staying right which would take one on to a local New Haven exit. Looking at the waze map on my iPhone, I see that that junction is a mess. This is a major highway exchange, so how should I draw attention to this problem?

Thanks,

Laurilettuce - Assuming this is the route in question, you are actually getting a keep/exit left instruction. Livemap. We did have an issue regarding left instruction sounding like right reported by a few users. Is it possible that is what you are experiencing?

The configuration of the junctions here look spectacular to me. I cannot seem to locate the mess you speak of.

That's odd. You sure you were looking at it from the drivers perspective? This may involve but is not limited to turning your computer upside down.

This is a known limitation of Waze right now - that it cannot handle more than simple left vs. right vs. continue straight (silent) at any given junction. Because of this, we have to model any 3-or-more-way splits as a quick series of binary forks - so for example, the middle might be to keep left and then immediately keep right, etc.

This does cause conflicts when approaching signage shows 3 or more different ways to go, but this is the best we can currently do.

I definitely encountered that, but I also had "Left" instructions for right turns, and I've worked a number of URs for both.

But more recently, I ran a route checker on a segment series that I had recently edited, and it displayed a right arrow for a left turn. The written instructions on the left of the page said left, and Livemap looks good, but the arrow icon was a right arrow.

I made some edits to that area last night, so I'll recheck it in a couple of days and see if it happens again.

The arrow ran upward and right (driver perspective should have been right and up)

Just checked it and my edits from yesterday kicked in, it's now displaying properly.
Could have been an issue of the server updating at the same time I was routing?
