NY Meetup Recap

Post by redviper26
Hey guys,

We had a great regional meetup in New York City last week, with a mix of champs, mid level and new editors. We discussed lots of stuff, detailed below, and kicked off the mapraid in LA.

Here are some of the main issues that were raised - take a look, add your comments and examples and let us know what you think.

Places

A request was made for the ability to edit places before approving them - something we are working on. Another thing that was raised and that is in our long term plans was adding multiple entry and exit points.

The editors also reported a bug, where low level users can edit places locked by higher level ones. We need examples for this - don't be shy, send us permalinks.

WME

We discussed retaining new editors, and lots of suggestions for improvements. For example - getting more details about URs from the users who opened them, something that will be solved in version 4. We also talked about ways to enhance the mentoring initiative and connect new and veteran editors.

Mapraids

We kicked off the LA mapraid, and discussed measuring the effectiveness of mapraids - something we plan to do in the LA raid.

Wiki

Xevell suggested a nice take on a sort of a short guide - a reference sheet - recapping the info in the Wiki. Pretty amazing stuff that our content manager is looking into.

All in all we had a great time and learned a lot. Thanks to everyone who participated, and see you all again soon :)

Following the meetup, we implemented the suggestion you raised concerning the pothole alert duration. From now on a reported pothole will stay live for 48 hours, unless users report it's not there.
Where I live (Brazil) the average lifetime of a pothole vary from several days, weeks or even months, depending where they are. Would be better if the pothole alerts will remain until some user click "not exist".

Hey guys,

Following the meetup, we implemented the suggestion you raised concerning the pothole alert duration. From now on a reported pothole will stay live for 48 hours, unless users report it's not there.

Let us know if you encounter any issues.

Best,

We didn't change the logic for that. Still a work in progress.

Noam,

GREAT news.

How much time does a "Thumbs up" add for a 48-hour pothole report?
