I'm sure they can, they can effect the same closures we would be able to if only the apps worked properly. It just depends on whether they're at their computers and looking at twitter.

In a separate development, how are road closures working in Boulder, CO?

All streets should be open for the morning rush.

Sounds reasonable. The lastest is that the interstate has been reopened, but M St remains closed: https://twitter.com/DCPoliceDept/status ... 8339061760

To be honest I wouldn't rely on the DC Dot post too heavily, this is very fluid situation. I suspect that DC DoT is not calling the shots on what will open and when it may open.

I suspect that I-695 will be opened at any time unless they think opening the interstate will be ineffective as it may just fill with gawkers.

I would guess that M St will be closed at least over night.

Don't know how at this point. Although several critical segments do seem to be closed by users.

As a side note, the waze map is much more accurate (up to date) than the map from the DC DoT in their twitter post/web posting.

AlanOfTheBerg wrote:Those are probably from the app, but not enough "power" to actually close the segments?

That makes sense. I'm not seeing them in the client.

fvwazing wrote:Can you see who created them?

Yes. Many are created by "Rick," but there are some other users as well.

The US-specific discussion here needs to be split. I will move the posts into the US forum.

If this isn't going to impact more than just a single commute, I don't think I'm comfortable waking anyone up.

The social guys in the US are in California, so I think they are/should be. I can try to email them directly, or does this warrant an SOS? How long are the closures supposed to last?
