Okay, finally got this through to them by sending screen captures on Twitter, and now they know what to look for.

Here's the status update.

E-mail the username to Dror and let him look into it. The cookie eating thing is obviously not legitimate...if a US Wazer got in a car and specifically aimed to just hit roads with cookies, it would probably take several years to cover 20,000 miles of them.

Dror said these points all came from cookie eating, not editing. It's a software glitch, or they found a way to cheat, but if you notice, none of the top 3 scores for the week have changed since they day they popped up there.

Points, scoreboard and ranking problems

Postby jasonh300 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 5:33 am

No. I was driving enough to pick up my candies. Had errands to run so I'd get a couple of candies every time I turned Waze on. I was doing around 3000 edits a day.

Unlikely. 50k points is a LOT of points in an entire week nevertheless from an unrecognized Wazer at mid-week.

If a user advanced 4 million+ places in a day, that pretty much means that he had 0 points yesterday...for the week anyway.

I just took 4 days off and pretty much edited during most of my waking hours and still didn't ever pull off more than 10-12k points in a day.

I tweeted it to @Waze this morning. They indicated that they are aware of the problem and asked for the username, so I guess they know why it's happening.

Either someone has found some means of cheating, or the scoring process had an aneurysm last night and just gave away a lot of points to one person. I'm guessing it's a data or software bug and I would give the user the benefit of the doubt for now.

That was my first thought, although that would still be 5000 miles in a day. 12 hours in a jet traveling 400 MPH would do that, however, Dror said it was cookie munching, not paving.

That answer is crap. That's traveling 113MPH for 7 days without stopping and not being on any roads not munched.

And like I said, today's Tuesday. The points reset at 11 PM Sunday night. So this would've had to have been done in a 24 hour period.

Being that today is Tuesday, this would mean that all of those points have accrued since yesterday. If it was editing candies, he would've already had 320,000 points, as editing candies double your editing score.

@Waze tweeted that all of the points are from Cookie Munching, which would mean that someone munched 19,000 miles of cookies. I think you'd be hard pressed to find 19,000 miles of cookies anywhere in North America.
