What's the point of points?

Post by ctrlC
Other than taking part in a ranking system among your peers, and earning a special icon that shows up on the map when others see you, what is the point of points?

Does getting more points allow you to access to more features or capabilities?

What's the point of a grade in a school class? Why are there high scores saved on video arcade machines? Why is there calorie information clogging up the menu board at my local McDonalds?

We are a society of ranks and numbers. My kid is better than you kid. My car goes faster than your car, etc.

The higher the points = the higher the rank = the more spiffy your icon = the better you are than the rest. It keeps us motivated and interested.

Get onboard and start editing maps so that you have more points and a higher rank than me. Good luck

Under the "current" privs model, it does make a distinction at the area manager levels.

Other than that, it is just for bragging rights.
