Ranking and Kings

Post by Bunger78
How is it possible that there are "kings" in my area who's rank are 11k or less? I thought that King was reserved for those in the top 1%??? I seriously doubt there are 1,100,000 wazers in my area.

Thanks!

It's the top 1% of your area.... (States in the US, Countries in the rest of the world)

See https://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/You ... and_Points for details...

No... Say there are 100 Wazers in California, the top 1% would be 1 Wazer... and that Wazer would be King (or Queen)... Wazers 2, 3, & 4 would be the Knights, 5-10 would be the Warriors, and everyone else would just be a grown up...

11300 / .01 = 1,130,000

That is, for that person to be a "King" there would have to be at least 1.1 million wazers in the state.
Where did you see that user's rank? I'm gonna do some detective work...

Alright... Just did some detective work... Found a Wazer in the app listed with a rank of 841, but with a crown... That user's CT rank is 14... The rank listed in the app is the COUNTRY rank in the USA while the crowns (& swords & shields) are awarded on the state level...

And, no there isn't a way to know how many users are in your region... But you can guesstimate when you rank up into the top 10%... You know your rank, you know you are now in the top 10%, you've already shown you can do the math...

Yes, "Me" tab is for the state, "Friends" tab (and on the Dashboard) is the USA rank...

If you go to the "Everyone" tab, you can select All (Country)/State and All Time/Weekly for both...

Yes, it is. The ranking number shown is your rank on the whole server (of which there are three: USA & Canada; Israel; and everywhere else). The "crown/sword/shield/adult/baby" icon rankings are based on your rank within your country (or your state, in the USA).
I didn't see the ONE Canadian in the NA Top 50 list... Sorry... But I was able to confirm everything else correctly...

Of course, when you've been #1 in your state for months ;), then there's no way of estimating. ;)
Yea, I know that feeling... I bounce around the top 3 weekly in in the state (it depends on who has more time to edit that week)

Bunger78 wrote:Kinda on topic....

So looking at the US ranking page, I see people that have jumped 9000k'ish positions, suggesting that there are 9 million'ish users at very least on Waze, in the US. If memory serves, there are about 100 million smartphone users in the US, so is Waze really installed on and used by 10% of smartphones owners?

I'm starting to think the percentage tiers are skewed by non-active users. Any ideas?
Based on data from July 5th, 2012:
Waze has 20 millions users world wide... They added 10 million of those users in the first 6 months of 2012... In June 2012, they added just under 2 million users... (http://www.waze.com/blog/waze-hits-20-million-users/)

You're over-thinking this whole ranking thing...
