You drive to church 4-6 times on any given Sunday?

The caramel (candies) theory

Postby enhket » Sat Dec 01, 2012 4:31 pm

I call it theory because i have not found any accurate information about it! Okay, so i have gone through a lot of tests to know how things work. I have been checking out the candies, and days ago i didnt edit anything so i would have 0 candies left. There are 2 weird things, the first one is, i thought you need get actived your candies after every points update in order to loot them the next day (or once the ranking is updated), but it didnt happen that way, once i had no candies left (and i did drive like 2 days -having edited nothing- to make sure) i edited to get a few candies and my surprise is i got the candies without waiting for the map-edit update (when the system updates the points). I mean, it looks like you can get the candies ready, as soon as you get to do 500 map edits and you dont need wait for the ranking to update.

The second one is about the place where you pick up your candies. i have tried to get the candies in different places, and it didnt work. I do always get the candies at the same places where i get them everyday. i have heard you have to absolutly stop your car in order to get the candy in the next corner, but didnt work either. So i thought you need get a certain speed and the segment (to the next corner) need meet a certain lenght, but didnt work either. I guess that the segment where you get the candy need meet a time requirement, i mean, you get the candies in segments which are a few months or years old?

any extra info from someone?

Yep ... at 0730 for band practice, then home to get the kids & wife, back for the service at 0815, then home afterward. At 1630 I'm taking the teenagers over for drama practice, then at 1800 it's back for the evening service, and then another round trip around 2100 to pick up the teens after the youth group meeting. And occasionally I'll buzz back home between the early service & Sunday school (as I did today) to put the roast in the oven. :D
But once warmer weather comes, then we go back to walking the two blocks instead of driving. :)

On my two-block drive to church, I usually get one on the way there and one on the way back. On any given Sunday, I can pick up 8-12 candies (depending on my backlog ;)) without even trying real hard, just based on my regular drives there during the winter. :D

From personal experience I can give you some tips on how to clear out those candies quickly. Find a dead end road at least a half a mile long. Drive to the end and stop for at least 60 seconds, a candy will appear, drive to other end and pick it up. Again, stop for at least 60 seconds. Do a U-turn and repeat.

Being a package delivery driver made it easy for me to figure this method out. While making multiple stops on the same road a candy would appear each time I made a stop and this would continue until all bonus candy I was due were picked up.

Indeed... I made a lot of edits during Christmas....

As my commute is mostly above 40 kph, I rarely get more than 4 candies a day, so it took until this week before I had candy-less days...

I don't think there's any time-out there...

There is no "time-out" on them, as far as I know. They'll last until you pick them up while driving, even if it's weeks later. I did a lot more editing and less driving this week than I normally do ... I've got a backlog of probably 12K-15K edits' worth of candies to pick up (and that's after picking up 8 this morning and afternoon). I'll only be able to grab 2-4 more of them this evening ... and then I'll be back on the editor again, to pile up even more candies on top of them before I start picking them up again -- it's a vicious cycle!

whenever you get to do 500 map-edits in WME, you get an 750 points candy.
