Improving the Waze Map in Malta

Post by moweez
Red Roads
When you encounter roads which are bright red, please name them in the menu pane on the left. Click "Edit" and add the Country, City, and Street name. If there is no City and/or Street name available, then the "None" box(es) must be selected, or the segment will stay as an unfinished red line. When they stay red, they will not be used in routing.

More information can be found here: Red roads. I'm als writing a slightly friendlier page, which is still under construction: Improve your skills/Red roads.

A nice guide to editing can be found here: Map Editing Quick-start Guide or a simple version under construction

Roundabouts

There are many roundabouts in Malta. For best routing, try to keep the roundabout and the incoming and outgoing roads as simple as possible. See this page how to do that: UK roundabouts. However, it is better NOT to delete the forks, but handle them like with the "unsplitting" or "undividing"roads, as can be seen in this movie.

Furthermore, every incoming and outgoing road needs its own connection on the roundabout. If more than one road is connected at one point on the roundabout, Waze cannot give good instructions, like here:

.

Here is a simple description of how to create a roundabout. If you like help or someone to review the roundabout, just submit a question, or ask in Slack (see the Welcome topic).
