First my compliments for the document, I have read only the English version, it looks very complete and reads easily.

Of course I also have some comments / questions.

Places
Churches are not mentioned as area-places. Can I suggest to add them? For navigation-purpose a church is often a good landmark, also because of the height.

Gas station
In the past I learned that that the area of a gas station should only contain the building. I understand that this is now changed to the full area. Do I understand this correctly? And do I need to change the existing gas stations, when applicable?

Parking lots
When I read the first principal of a parking lot, I think people could interpret that a public paid parking lot should not drawn. May be it is good to explicitly mention that they should be drawn.

I'm surprised about the naming. I currently have habit of parking lots with a name to add [P] before the actual name. Names of PL's are often the same of a building of street and then you will see a grey area in live map and app with a name. I don't know how a user can see otherwise that it is a PL. And more or less the same goes for leaving the name blank. Then you will only see a grey area, no clue what it is. If this is the agreed guideline of course I will start to follow it, but I want to be sure about is.

moweez wrote: Most churches will have an area size of more than 500 m2, and thus should be added according to the guidelines as they are now. Also, the table explicitly deals with churches at the category `Religious Center`. If there is a need for another mention, where would you like to see it?
As you state it, it is exactly as I like it.

But I went to When_to_use_Area_or_Point_in_the_BeNeLux which is linked on the first page. There is a long list, officially as examples, with places that should be area's. Because the list is so long and Religious centers and churches are not mentioned in there I misinterpreted that they should not be an area. I would suggest to add them to that list or remove that list and reference to the table.

moweez wrote: There has been a lot of debate about it, nationally as well as internationally. It appeared that the area, contrary to what we all thought, is not bound to a gas station for keeping the data like gas prices, or for separating traffic data. Also, gas stations even could be a Point Place to work well. The only valid argument of drawing an area, is the visibility in the app. Users complain when they don´t see a gas station in the neighbourhood. So, when drawing gas stations as area places, the area´s should be as large as possible, to have a fair chance of showing in the app. Another advantage could be that perhaps users now are more likely to update prices.
We could also decide to have area places follow the same guidelines as other places, thus a Point place for smaller area´s, and an Area for larger places, only covering the building. Open for discussion.
I didn't know about the discussion, I thought it was already agreed to only map the buildings.

My personal preference is to map them as an area as big (so including the property) as possible. I would like to see them in the live map. An other argument in favor of that option is that gas station are often used a landmarks during navigating. E.g. in Mijdrecht (N201) we have a small road close to a gas station. When you drive there it is handy to see if you need to turn before or after the gas station.

Where in the text would you suggest?

In the past, the [P] symbol would yield a Parking Lot symbol in the app. Nowadays, these symbols will be shown for every Parking Lot Area in the neighbourhood of your destiny. Thus a [P] is not necessary anymore to generate that symbol. However, the symbols don't appear when you are just driving around, and grey area's are not very informative either, neither are uninformative names. Do you (or anybody else of course) have suggestions to the naming of Parking Lots?
Suggestion for the text for the first principle of parking lots
All Parking-Lot Area Places must be legally and physical accessible to the general public. If payment is required this should be possible for every user on the spot.

Suggestion for the naming convention
All names of parking lots should start with [P]. Only if the PL has a specific name this should be added after the [P]. This should for example not be the name of the store, museum, etc it is located near by.

Why not? ;-)
I wanted to prevent that e.g. you will have two area's with almost the same name, next to each other. It will also shorten the list with search-results.

Correct and also a good option. I gave my personal preference, because Mo is asking for a discussion.

I don't know if much editors do the same, but I use the live map quite often to oversee an area. Then it is handy when large parking lots are visible and can be easily identified as a parking lot.

I have a suggestion for Parking lots. Can we add something about underground parking garages? If we don't want them mapped, because we don't see them, I'm in favor to add that to the Wiki.

Belgium:
+32 AA BB BB BB, or +32 A BBB BB BB for landlines,
+32 4AA BB BB BB or +32 4AA BBB BBB for mobile numbers
Netherlands:
+31 AA BBBBBBBB, or +31 AAA BBBBBBB for landlines,
+31 6 CBBBBBBB for mobile numbers
Luxembourg
+352 local number (varies in amount and area)

Note that there are some numbers that can deviate from the above given formats. Just start with
the land code,
followed by the area code without 0,
and than the subscribers number.

All without dashes, slashes, and the like.
Thanks Mo. Hopefully this will be soon on the wiki page of Places. Currently I use 00 in stead of the + sign, but I will change that habit.

Can we also have such a guideline for the website? I mean e.g.: do we include or exclude the http://? Do we remove the default document for that website? E.g. http://www.mijndomein.nl/index.htm or http://www.mijndomein.nl?

It is already in the wiki page:
https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Benelux_Places#More_Info_tab

Concerning the website address: I don't know what to do with the /index.htm. WME has a validation process concerning website addresses. Could you test whether it is accepted in WME? And if so, if it is also clickable from the search results in the app?
Without the http:// it validates and also you don't need the default document, so www.mijndomein.nl works fine in the editor. On WP the website is not shown, on Android the link is clickable. I don't have a IOS device to test, but I expect no problem. I prefer not to add the default document because webmasters can change that and then the link does not work anymore or you are going to old information.

No this didn't change. For every place (except natural places of course  ) we currently ONLY map the building, so this is not only for Gas stations.
How about a college campus, campus of a hospital, ... these aren't natural places, but are mostly also mapped as one area and not only the buildings...
As Waze proposed, and implemented by multiple other communities, i would suggest to map gas stations as a place area, as big as possible, and not just 'the building'. The only reason to do this is to get the gas station on the map in the app.
