This forum is where you can get help when Waze will not route you to your destination. Waze is not like other GPS nav apps. The map is built by users. This makes it more accurate, but the map may not be complete in your area. Note that many routing problems can be solved simply by driving along the route. Waze will learn which turns are allowed, and which roads exist and their direction. This can take many weeks. Map editing is faster, more complete and more accurate. But it takes more effort.
In order to provide you with help, you must clearly give the starting and ending point of your route, so that anyone in the world can identify the place. For your privacy, I suggest you do not offer a route directly to or from your home or work. Instead choose a start and end that is close, or goes past home or work.
To ask for help, add a new topic, with the subject of the approximate area, state and country. Then you can
a) Provide a permalink from the Waze Live Map. Try to replicate the route on the Live Map by setting the origin and destination of the route. Then click the Share routes link and copy the link into your forum post, e.g. https://www.waze.com/livemap?zoom=17&la ... t_text=Now
b) Provide a permalink from the Waze Map Editor. Instructions for providing a permalink are found here. Please paste the permalink into your forum post, e.g. https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=row&lo ... s=5&zoom=1
c) as a last alternative, use Google Maps to get directions from the start and end point. You can then click on Link to generate a URL which you can copy and then paste into the forum topic, eg http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=d&source=s_d&hl=en&geocode=FfsJzf0dmFVtCikpe3qdK0sNbTFer-Pcu2bmUg%3BFeSJzP0dVXhqCinNMuep30UNbTECo_Ng-B0NCw&saddr=selwyn+road,+howick&daddr=alex+boyd+link&sll=-36.927004,174.749781&sspn=0.008937,0.01929&ie=UTF8&z=12
If your routing problem is related to the Waze search function placing the destination at the wrong location, then please provide the exact search term that was searched for and the particular search result selected that provided the incorrect location. For example: I searched for "Times" and selected "Times Square, New York, NY United States" from the list of autocomplete choices, but Waze routed to Central Park.
Unpaid wazers like you, who love maps and solving puzzles, will volunteer their time to help make Waze routing work for you. You need to be patient, polite, and be prepared to do some work yourself. You may be the only one who can edit the map in your area, but it is easy, and you'll get step-by-step instructions. We will help you to solve the problem yourself.
All the information you need for map editing can be found at http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Map_Editing . Reading other topics in this forum will be helpful.
The basic approach is to check that all the roads along the route exist, and are correctly set to one-way and two-way. And that all the junctions correct allow and restrict turns from one road to another. On long routes, you may find that routing works part of the way, so the detailed work can start at the point where routing fails.
Please do not add your problem to someone else's topic – start each problem route in a new topic, even if you have more than one. Because it takes days (sometimes up to a week) for map edits to be transferred to your smartphone, you will have to wait to see if the routing works correctly. Please report back with any outstanding problems, but also report back with success, so your topic can be marked as solved.
If you don't respond to requests for additional information, or actions to take, then your topic is likely to be closed by the moderators.
If anyone complains that Waze will not provide a route, please refer them to this forum.
