I have been using Waze app for some time and only realize today "中文/普通話(中國) - 靜宜" is actually "廣東話".

Just tried it and feel a little bit weird about the way TTS speaks / is translated. For example, we say "迴旋處" for roundabout, but she says "環島".

Keep left/Keep right instructions would be much simplier if it were "靠左/靠右", but she says "靠左(右)邊車道行駛". Too long for an instruction. Again we do not say "車道" in Hong Kong.

I understand this TTS may have been recorded by someone who is from a different region with a different culture / choice of vocabulary. Would be brilliant if there is a truly HK-style Cantonese TTS.

P.S I'm currently an iPhone user, and custom voice recording is not supported yet. I read that custom/self-recorded TTS is already supported in Android already?

I expected you used Waze in Hong Kong, not in Mainland China, right? I'll check with Waze anyway.

It is a bit pain. There are some restriction to change the wording and took longer then I expected to deal with Waze

Yes, Custom voice does support on Android.

You hear 環島, etc because the Cantonese voice is under Mandarin translation. I have translated Cantonese TTS and requested Cantonese voice to be separated from Mandarin for many years but it seems Waze is not going to do it yet.

Finally there is Cantonese in Waze but showing as "中文/普通話(中國) - 靜宜" instead of "廣東話".
