Separate Hong Kong from China (per Macau)

Post by Editot
... but could we create a separate "state" within China for Hong Kong, it's separated by a Boundary, we drive on the other (wrong?) side of the road and things are generally a bit different from Mainland China.

As usage develops across China you may find it easier to separate its many Provinces into similar "states".

Nope. HK still doesn't have it's own space (Macau does!).

Post a permalink of the roads you've got a problem with so we can review.

So last week I created a ticket as follows:

TIcket number: 570D5DD8A-221F6EA
Ticket content: Hong Kong is LHD (China: RHD), has multiple gas stations including Shell, Esso (China: no Shell or Esso), uses HK$ as currency (China: RMB), Hong Kong reads / writes in English and Traditional Chinese (China: Simplified Chinese), etc., etc. This significantly limits development of the map and functionality. Macau is a separate region from China. I would be interested in working on a project to update Hong Kong. Suggest start with 1 street / segment appropriately configured and I can then edit out from there... Please let me know what further info you need to sort this out. Thank you.

No reply other than the auto-acknowledge (issuing the ticket number)...

A quick update, I was advised by waze recently - confirming Leo's earlier comments - a change is in the works. About 3 months or so. Watch this space.

This is great news. Hopefully Waze may now be working in a script to remove ", Hong Kong" from City names. Started work on Clear Water Bay and Sai Kung already. Also adding the Chinese name.

on paper , yes Hong Kong is part of china, but it's better to divide it on Country

*china drives on left, HK's Right
*no way a normal tourist could cross the boundary by self driving
*even for me, i only tried 2 times, with getting permits in 2 months advance and a huge fee...
*honestly, i wont use waze in China, china's road changes frequently and only waze could provide on names is mandarine "pingyin" english spelling...which is certainly no good for either tourists or local.

editot you're in HK?
