Latin versus Greek on Rhodes

Post by Pepsodont
Hi, I am visiting the island of Rhodes and found that all streets names etc are not in Greek but latin letters. Is this because of the heavy tourism here? I see the Greek alphabet is used on mainland Greece.

Hello. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Rhodes island. :)

There are two possible reasons for the latin street names.

1) A greek Wazer typed the names in latin for the reason you specify (heavy tourism in the area)
or
2) A visiting Wazer who drove around Rhodes island used the latin names from google maps to edit the map area.

Google maps is the main source of map data (street names etc) and it has both greek and english names for the streets.

In any case, thanks for reporting this. Hopefully someone with map access to Rhodes island or an area manager will 'fix' it.

Happy Wazing! :D

The same problem has been detected also in our tourist places
I had reveived PMs for Crete and Ionian Islands

Perhaps you could provide us with permalinks to unlcock them and ask local wazers to edit
