Which radio station would like to use Waze reports?

Post by a4xrbj1
Hi guys,

an idea to promote Waze more in Malaysia, especially in the metro cities with their jams. See the link: http://thenextweb.com/apps/2010/09/29/w ... o-tv-news/ talking about the first radio stations subscribing to the traffic service by monitoring Wazers reporting jams. Would for sure be useful, especially if we can get one of the bigger ones to promote Waze at the same time.

The first dilemma we're still facing is the few number of users in MY, the second is our map quality. Both is being solved by getting more users online, at the same time we can't afford to lose to many interested once by not having proper routing at least for the main streets.

What do you guys think? As a non-Malaysian I'm not familiar with local radio stations, which one should we maybe approach?

Looking forward to your comments,

Andreas

Hi Nyem,

thanks for your response. The www.waze.com live map can help the radio stations figure out which direction it's happening as well as seeing the automatic reports from slower than average speed. I use the web app all the time before I go off, the tool isn't still coming up with best solution when I leave office due to still some missing routing and min. 3 routes to go home (lucky me).

Once we have all highways connected, we can try to contact those radio stations. They just need to follow #waze and monitor the web, that's all.

Good idea, maybe you can approach BFM 89.9, Hitz.fm or Mix FM. Also agree on the road quality and their routability: it's a big turn-off for new users. Most users will expect waze to be usable like googlemap if not better.

I think some radio stations are monitoring twitter messages with the hashtags #kltraffic #kltu #kltrafficupdate, etc. Here's a sample traffic tweet from waze:
Just reported a jam on E5 KESAS, Subang Jaya. My mood: starving, http://bit.ly/dlhLVt using @waze - Social GPS.
We need to edit the msg to be more informative (such as our direction, detail location, junctions, etc) and include the relevant hashtag. I wish we can preconfigure the tweets (particularly removing the mood status, I don't think anyone is interested to know whether I'm starving or sleepy).
