Waze routes into one-way closure

Post by voludu2
1) Is waze aware that waze will route into the first segment of a one-way closure on a 2-way street to get to a destination on that segment, even the the destination is accessible from the opposite direction?
2) If so, does waze think this is desirable behavior?
3) Is this desirable behavior?

In this example, waze will route into the first segment of a one-way closure on a 2-way street when it is not necessary.
All the destinations on the first segment of the one-way closure are accessible from the opposite direction.

I had an UR dealing with the same issue. For me that is a bug that should be fixed.

This has been reported to the developers using voludu2's example, which illustrates it nicely. They will get back to me soon. I will post back here if that happens.

Waze has always routed in to the "first" segment of a Closure. Doesn't have to be the end segment, just the first one it hits.

(This is related to the issue of routing across parades, construction trenches, etc, when only one side of cross streets are closed. But we won't go there right now. ;) )

The route in my example was made on the same one-way closed stretch of College Avenue. Look at the cross-street names. ;)

I think this should be considered inappropriate behavior.
What do you think?

Is that a one-way closure or a 2-way closure? Is that literally the only way to get to the destination segment?

In the original post, because it is a one-way closure on a 2-way street, there is an unpenalized route available to the destination segment -- just go down the same street in the opposite (without closure) direction.

The unclosed direction should be preferred to the closed direction. But routing behaves as though no penalty is applied for entering the segment-with-closure in the direction-of-closure. Only for leaving it. therefore -- no penalty for using one segment of the closed route.

It seems to me that routing would be improved if the logic were tweaked a little bit.
