option to turn off 'car stopped on shoulder' hazard

Post by rettops
Every few miles on the Freeway, I get a 'car stopped on shoulder' hazard no0tification. Since that is really the normal state on the Freeway, I'd like an option to turn off that particular hazard. I'd still like the other hazards to be reported, but I don't want to be interrupted every minute or so with notifications of something that I don't consider a hazard.

This is not currently an option in the app. If you would like to suggest it as a new feature, head over to the client uservoice and first search for it or a similar type of suggestion, and if you can't find it, you are welcome to add this idea.

But but but, how will I know I need to slow down to 5 mph and rubber-neck????

From what I have seen in my area, that hazard is overused. Really as drivers we don't need to know about every car stopped on the shoulder - only one's that are a real hazard such as part way in the road, obstructing traffic, causing a traffic jam etc.

But since Wazers get points to report hazards - there is no incentive not to report every single car stopped on the shoulder...

It bugs me also. Especially since you get a 'major alert' on the screen just like with an accident and police. Seems also that Waze should consider not creating these pop-up alerts for car stopped on the shoulder events. Usually they are not that critical.

Well in that case, Waze is actually creating a traffic jam then helping us to avoid them

 I'm dying to know where you're from that you consider this normal. Cars in the shoulder are much less common than that around here.

I agree that it's a hazard if the car is protruding into the lane, or the guy is changing a tire with his ass in the lane. It's not a hazard if the car is firmly planted on the side of the road, in the pullout area. In that case reporting it makes about as much sense as reporting the cars parked on the side of any regular road. However, since Waze is rewarding people for reporting them they will get reported. I'm just asking for the ability to turn those hazard reports off without having to turn all hazard reports off.

A few weeks ago I marked one of these on my way home, where a guy was changing a flat on the freeway.
By the time I got home there was a wreck and massive traffic jam there.

Even though it may be overused, it is an important hazard IMO. Especially since I have been in that situation.
