I believe that the messenger services available to post in our profile are not expansive enough and may becoming outdated. Currently the list is ICQ number, AOL Instant Messenger, WL/MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and Jabber address.

For example, I know many US editors Google Hangouts (/Google Groups) for area communication and mentoring. Skype would probably be another viable option. Facebook may be popular, but I don't believe there's a way to link directly to messenger, plus some may find this invasive (then again, don't list it if you don't want to use it).

I personally have stopped using the current messengers a few years ago, so I'm not sure how popular they are. While we are going to Slack, that is team based and would not be appropriate to be listed on a profile.

Thoughts or any additional suggestions?
