Adding weather underground data to display/routing?

I'm going to throw out the idea that using the weather underground API might give Waze some more options for

1. Getting more weather-specific data to put on the map/alerts
2. Allowing some routing options to avoid severe weather

Maybe there's some other ideas on how to integrate this data? Maybe even share both ways?

I wanted to generate some discussion around this idea and get the community's thoughts on its potential usefulness, for a way to integrate into Waze I hadn't considered. And to get general feedback. Then decide if I want to post it to uservoice.

I figured! It was firmly tongue-in-cheek!

There was a brief discussion on whether Waze was actively using User Voice at the Meet Up. I'll let AlanOfTheBerg post what the outcome of this was... Obviously AlanOfTheBerg is posting a feature request in the forum for some reason ;)

And for the record, Waze is still referring to UserVoice and it's very useful in helping to gauge interest in the suggestions posted there.

In general Waze seems to consider the average Wazer when implementing design decisions and features into their solution. They don't want to the product and tools in support to be overly biased to the minority of users.

Wunderground radar is a data hog, so I would prefer not to include that, but reports of tornadoes, flash flooding, etc would be very nice.

If it's raining, snowing, or if it's very cold it would be nice to have a small warning icon in the corner for slippery roads.
Also warning icons for fog or strong winds can be usefull I think.

A fullscreen warning with a sound warning is not a good idea. ;)
