Request audiofocus, please?

I just installed a music player mainly because it is claimed to be able to turn down the volume of music while navigation services were running so that directions could be heard and understood. I tested playing music with the player while running Waze and the volume of the player did not decrease and I was unable to hear the directions from Waze. I have been messaging the developer of the music player all day trying to get a fix so that I will be able to use both music AND navigation on my phone at the same time and hear both. He has determined that with apps such as Google navigator and Co Pilot Live, an announcement is made to the music player to decrease the volume so that the navigation system could give the directions, and then the connection is closed (from what I understand). He himself installed Waze and tried it with his app and he determined that Waze does not do this. I was considering buying the player solely for this purpose because it will be something I need, as I am moving soon. I will be needing the guidance of Waze quite regularly as I learn my way around, and I would like to be able to play my music in the background while using Waze. However, I am not sure if I will be buying the license for the music player if it will not work with this app, and the version of the player I am using now is only a 14 day trial, soon to expire.

Could this be done so that I could continue using Waze? I would really rather not have to use Google navigation.

Oh, right. I just figured it would be a function any and every phone would need. I use an LG myTouch Q version 3.4.5.

I did send an email to the developer before posting this. I got an automatic response back telling me to post to the forum so I figured this would be the only way it would be seen since I am not sure if they read the emails or not. It did not state anything about anyone getting back to me as most automatic responses do so I just wanted to make sure it was seen.

Might help if you provide make/model/version/rom of the device you are using.

You might also need to direct this directly at support (via the nanorep section of the support web page), as with their small staff, they might not see this post, and this can only be fixed by waze development staff. Nobody in the forum community can make this happen.

The waze staff is a total of 60 people for the whole company, so it might take some time for them to answer the email from the support page. They try to deflect as much as possible to the forum, where the volunteer user groups can try to solve the issues that can be solved by changing settings or maps.
