Feature Request: Report event not at current location

Post by BEJ08
For example, the other day I was driving to work and while stopped at an intersection saw that a car was on fire on the offramp about a half block to my left. I didn't want to drop a hazard marker where I was though, since I was on a surface street at a stop light facing the freeway waiting to turn right.

If you could add functionality to report an event at a dropped pin (like the gray ones that show up when you hold your finger on a location) that would be great, and far more accurate.

That has been requested for a long time and Waze is not likely to implement it for various reasons.

Although it will be interesting to see how the new closure report will work. I'm hoping that you won't need to be on a road to mark it closed.

Basically this feature has been suspended. We have removed the button and replaced it with 4square check-in.
So I guess we shouldn't hold our breath. Seems like it may be a bit more difficult than it first appears.

I only hope that they will skip the first segment if it is shorter than 20 meters (split roads intersection).

I guess they could make you have to be on a road segment LEADING to the one you want to mark closed.

Good point. Though I have seen a temporary closure of just that short segment between split roads. Once was when there was an accident on that short segment. Other time was when there was a detour off of an interstate due to a jack knifed truck and they were forcing all traffic to turn right at one point along the detour route. In both cases the end effect was that just the short jumper segment was closed preventing straight and left motions while rights were still allowed. The roads were still open on the other side of the intersection.
