Mobile Speed Camera Locations

I have just recently been converted to Waze, having got my first phone able to run it.

I really like the concept and overall performance of the application, other than some local road errors which I have had fixed, it all seems great.

However, having used two different speed camera alert devices before this, I feel there is something missing. Mobile cameras should really be on the map.

I know by definition a Mobile camera/speed trap is not always in place, but there are regular locations where they do like to sit. This is obvious by driving your own area and slowing down where you have seen them before.

Now this is great when you are on your own patch, but when I am in another area I would not know this. I have read the Wiki camera section and acknowledge that the "Waze way" is to report it as a Policeman (visible or invisible).. That fine, but if I am the first wazer along that day, I would rather have been informed of the possibility of a camera there, rather than report it after passing it.

Just a thought, but something I feel could be implemented. especially as I guess regular mobile locations are logged by many users.

I don't disagree it would be nice, but with the functionality and the way Waze is different, on purpose from other apps, is that if someone gets the prompt for a camera and taps Not There, then it is likely others will do it too, and within a day, the camera is Unapproved and no one will get the warnings again.

It is better to simply mark these, for now, as Police, because that's who is operating them. In the future, perhaps Waze will have another type of option for mobile/temporary speed cameras where tapping "Not There" will simpyl remove the notification of that camera for other drivers for say, 8 hours. Problem with that is, if it gets set up within that time, then others will come along and Add another camera from the app and then the map starts to get very messy.

All of those were reported by drivers and then an editor had to approve them. Just delete them from the map if they are incorrect.

We have a growing number of users and a substantial number of misreporting number, in the future we will not have enough editors to preemptively solve this problem.
Perhaps, but some editor (perhaps the same as the driver) had to approve them already, so editors are also already working against you. :x

We've requested many times to have the Camera report be moved into the Map Issue report as a new menu item, but no love from Waze yet.

this gonna be worst !!! we´ll be lost the option.

this is A LOT OF CAMERAS on the same way no ??!!!

i think on the possibility to report the "mobile speed camera"in a single button and , this report most to have some duration , for example ; i report today a mobile speed camera at 12:00 hrs and automatic shutdown before four hours "16:00hours" , i add "this most to appear in a single button" , together whith the others on the menu .

all of this because on my country we have A LOT of false reports because the new users can not see the diference on this , and make a reports of temporary cameras using the option "speed".

On this way , i was trying to support the idea to fix the problem , remarking that we can prevent at the beginning on report , separating what by definition is not together, in this case "the mobiles cameras from fixed cameras." i add , the "mobile cameras are also 4 hours on line , to avoid false warnings could be the approximation to the solution.

we try to say, a growing number of people mistakenly published speed cameras, the solution is simple, identify the report in a single button, alone on the menu, to avoid the moderators saturate whit corrections on this area, people could be used better for other tasks that are necessary on waze.

I realise that and have read the same in the Camera section.

My point is that Mobile camera operators have their favourite locations. In the UK many of these sites are in areas where there have been numerous accidents. I would rather be warned there might be a camera in one of these locations, than find one too late. I am not suggesting every single location a mobile has ever been seen be placed on the map, but just the regular locations.

This is something that some very good dedicated camera apps and programs do. I cant see why Waze cant implement the same idea.... Seems a no-brainer to me.
