This is a good idea. Or even if the actual carpool lanes themselves were their own special road type, I think it might work even better.

The solution that was suggested to me is to (for now) put the ramps to the carpool lanes as "parking lot roads". This means that waze will not route you through them, but you can still drive through the area without causing map problems.
