Because it is simply factual and represents no change in guidance, I added the following line to this page (see discussion in discord).

You cannot perform a place merge if any of the selected places are locked above your rank or you are not a trusted editor

We had a discussion in Discord about place locking level standards, and it was determined that specific lock levels are set regionally, or on a per-state basis instead of nationally. It was brought up that some states/regions may not have specific guidelines, and therefore defer to national guidance on locks (which currently lists gas stations as recommended locking at L2). Because of this, changing specifics to lock levels in this section may be risky and ultimately not something that should be done on a national level. However I think the section would benefit from having just a few words in about checking regional guidance to get the lock level standard. I'd propose something like the following:

Place lock levels are set on a regional basis, so please refer to the Wazeopedia page for the region and/or state that contains the place for guidance on the appropriate lock level.

This would just go at the end of the General tab section after "...should also be considered for locking to prevent loss of data.":

Perhaps a link to the wiki guidance on Manual locks would help as well?

I would like to propose an addition to the "Moved" section

https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Places#Moved

Something along the lines of the below tip that was shared in the Michigan Discord channel about moving a place further than the distance allowed:

Little tip if you need to move a place like that. Convert it to an area, stretch a corner to the new location, move the stop point. Save, drag the other nodes of the area over, convert to point, and save again

Can you propose a specific sentence to add?

Current:
If a point place is moved more than 1046.59 feet (319 meters), the change cannot be saved in WME. Therefore, if a business or other public place has moved a short distance, move the associated point place to the correct location, update the address and delete any photos that are no longer accurate. However, if a business has moved a long distance, remove the place as permanently closed according to the following section and create a new place.

Proposal:
If a Point Place needs to be moved more than approximately 400m (1/4 mile), WME will report an error and not allow saving. Therefore, if a business or other public place has moved a short distance, move the associated point place to the correct location, update the address and delete any photos that are no longer accurate. However, if a business has moved a long distance you have three options:
  1. Move the place within the 400m (1/4 mile) boundary and save, then repeat until reaching the new location.
  2. Convert the place to an Area Place, stretch a corner to the new location, delete the stop point, then save. Drag three of the nodes of the area to the new location and delete the fourth node, convert to a Point Place, and save again.
  3. Mark the place as permanently closed in Google (if linked) and Waze according to the following section, then create a new place at the correct location and fill proper data and linking.

To add on to what Mvan has said just to give an idea, I've been able to move a place over 6 miles in two saves in less than a minute vs. ~100 saves and run the risk of being throttled if it was just a PP.

  2. Convert the place to an area place, stretch a corner to the new location, delete the entry point, then save. Drag three of the geometry points of the area to the new location and delete the fourth, convert to a point place, and save again.
  3. Mark the place as permanently closed in Google (if linked) and Waze according to the following section, then create a new place at the correct location and fill proper data and linking.

There is no need to mark as permanently closed in Google. You can just suggest the place be moved in Google instead, create the new place in WME at correct location and link to GM appropriately and delete the old place in WME.
