I had crafted and attempted to post a reply here about 7.5 hours ago but it looks like it never made it or has gone missing :(

Regarding:

If the destination is located on a non-public road segment (private road, parking lot road, etc.), delete the Waze House Number and replace with a Residential Place Point (RPP). Ensure the RPP's street name and city are listed as the primary or alternate street/city pairing the nearby named segment.

I was going to suggest something like this:

If a Waze House Number is found on an unnamed non-public road segment (private road, parking lot road, etc.) it should be deleted and replaced with a Residential Place Point (RPP).

BUT: I think that guidance probably is moot - as editors wouldn't be able to invoke the house number editor on the unnamed segment?? Maybe the quoted item above should just be removed?

After reading this entire thread ... seems like what we need to protect is the Waze HN interpolation algorithm ... and that requires that RPP be used in some places.

I think the next bullet item covers one frequent scenario: house number on main road and driveway on side road.

The other scenario is where access to the building is via a non-public road segment. For example, in a rural setting if a house is set back from the road that its HN is assigned on ... and it has a driveway ... would it be best to recommend using an RPP and delete any existing HN? Should that be added as an item 3 under the next bullet point?

The case being mentioned is actually about when the actual house access itself is located on a road other than the one it's address would be able to take you to due to the limitation of where the HN on the segment can take you. This case requires an RPP to get the user to the proper location. Otherwise they will have a rough time finding the proper access to the house because it doesn't exist on the segment that the HN is located on.

You're correct that the RPP could be used in the setting where the access is on a different segment than its address is listed.

Wording of the eleventh point under Things to remember (caveats/warnings) in the House Numbers in WME article gives the impression of conflicting with the House numbers on service roads section of the (identically-named?) House numbers on Service Roads article.

Specifically, the former article says:
House Numbers in WME wrote:If the correct stop point for a house/business is on another road segment (differently named segment) away from its properly labeled segment in Waze, then a Waze house number for that address should not be used. Instead, add a residential point place (RPP) which contains only the address.

Meanwhile, the latter article says:
House Numbers on Service Roads wrote:[...] move the anchor point to the service road vice the main road [...]

I'm guessing that the quoted text from the main House Numbers article was unintentionally written in a way that can come across a bit too broadly. Perhaps that text can be amended slightly? One suggestion:

Proposed change to House Numbers article wrote:If the correct stop point for a house/business is on another road segment (differently named segment) away from its properly labeled segment in Waze, a different road than its address road — for example, when its entrance is located on a cross street or back street — then a Waze house number for that address should not be used (but note that house numbers may often be used for entrances located on service/frontage roads; see House Numbers on Service Roads). Instead, add a residential point place (RPP) which contains only the address.

Uncontroversial, I expect...?

I like this! Great work with getting things clarified further.

Out of curiosity, why is the “which contains only the address” qualifier there?

I don't know; that text is unchanged from the current version.

Were I to guess, I would guess it is there to remind the reader that RPPs don't have anything but address information. Strictly speaking, that intent would call for "that" instead of "which", i.e., "that contains only the address" and possibly within parenthesis as well. Except that's not really true, as RPPs have the potential to hold stop point information as well. Least confusing would probably be to omit the phrase altogether.

That was my opinion as well. Concise = better

Given the general agreement and the non-controversial nature of the changes, they're now live; see the differences. Thanks for the feedback and support.
