Best IMO is to have two columns, one with static and one with interactive maps. Even somewhere with interactive maps, some editors might wish to use PDFs instead, in case they have only one display but also an iPad or something.

I will commit the content in yours to the Wiki at some point. As much of a pain as Wiki table formatting is, the information gathering is the real hard part. Now we just gotta get someone to submit a FOIA request to the Wyoming DOT!

After throwing in the other and non-drivable portions (which should be revised separately), I reorganized and changed some of the headings, revised some of the explanatory text, and added another example to the mbox.

Alternate, Bypass, and Connector routes should have the same minimum type as their parents. There is only one "Scenic" route in the country, so I would keep that Major too.

Business, City, and Loop routes should have the minimum type one type lower than their parents.

Spur routes are a bit difficult, since some states use "Spur" to designate connectors. When operating as a connector, it should be the same type as its parent for the sake of continuity. When it's just a spur into a city, though — basically a business route only connected at one end — it can be one type lower.


I will add "Minor Arterial". Meant to do so. Added notes on the "Other Freeways" states too.

No? It only affects the minimum type, so a business US highway that's a freeway is still Freeway.
