I must be pretty special. The client I've got reports 1.9.00.000, and it has since I signed up for waze 2ish weeks ago. I think I came across it on AppBrain.com, if that makes any difference or not. I've been puzzled why this post was here and so active...

Running on HTC Incredible stock 2.1

Most of the discussion around the stability of the client was started before 1.9 was released and was being discussed in this thread, and it's just carried on. I too was hoping 'any day now' would have been quicker than 2 weeks away.
Ahhh, that explains it. I haven't read through the entire thread, but the only instability I've noticed has been a phone re-boot if I make/receive a call while waze is running. This was noted in another thread, and I've got a debug log ready to send in to the devs. We just took a trip from Indiana to Washington, DC, and didn't experience any shut downs with waze running the whole way.

Thanks for the insight!
I also get irritated about how the iPhone is given priority over everything else when it comes to upgrades. It's not just Waze, it's many other companies too. I'm very anti-iPhone (I think it's simply overpriced, overrated and over-loved, but don't get me started on that), but with Android rapidly gaining market share and overtaking the iPhone in some markets, things may change in the future.
ditto.

I sort of suspect that the older, less powerful phones are the ones having the force close and crashing troubles. That would explain why my friend's G1 crashes almost every time he tries to use it, while my Evo has rarely crashed at all.
That's a very good point. The only issue I've had is rebooting the phone if I get a phone call while I've got waze running. Usually, it's a couple of minutes into the call, so, if I remember, I've got time to shut down waze & continue the call. I'm running an HTC Incredible, stock 2.1. Hopefully, people are submitting the error reports to waze, they're looking at them, and are gathering some useful data from it.

It was running quite well on my htc Incredible with the stock 2.1 ROM. As soon as I rooted, I started getting all the random issues people have been talking about in this thread. About a week after I rooted, I actually put a new ROM on it (CM 6.0.2 - Froyo based), and the problems continued.

Saw this thread (http://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3467). I uninstalled waze (skipped the backup/restore - took all of 3 minutes to set my options again) & reinstalled, and now it's running (mostly) like a champ again. The only hiccup I seem to notice now is when I hit 'Resume Manually', it just keeps on tracking me. I've got traces of me wandering around the mall, and I'm leaving 'Complete Standstill' warnings every time I get gas.

htc Dinc, unrEVOked + forever, CM 6.0.2, waze 1.9 from the market.

Found a problem: exit through the menu button crashes the app. The icon remains in the top bar of the phone.

Exit through the back button works fine.

After using this version, I've experienced crashes on exiting through both buttons. Is nobody else experiencing this? I'm starting to think about a reinstall, but I hope that is not needed, as I reinstalled just before the update, and don't want to create al my favorites again...

That happened to me too this afternoon....

Found another problem after a few longer trips: it drains the battery way faster. My car charger can no longer keep up.

This and the crash on exit makes me revert to the previous version.
