@bangus - i see! by the way, have you joined the Philippine Waze group in Facebook? Please join so we can have a more interactive and faster response to problems, and concerns. I've noticed that this thread takes about two to three weeks to pick up a response, hope us manila wazers can be in touch more often through our group page.

Guys! i encourage you to join! see you there! :D

Hi guys, do we have an area manager? Mali yung route ng waze kahit sa Makati. Ang bagal naman ng server pag mag-edit pero so far nakaka-resolve na ako ng mga map issues sa mga nadadaanan ko :) di pa nga lang sya nag-update sa map ko :lol:

I am now an area manager of most of metro manila. I have also done a ton of edits, update requests, and problem resolution. Need to make a few side trips to widen my area :D

zoom out para maging malinaw resolution, parang may bug pa yung editor na kailangan zoom in/out para maging maayos yung display.

yung "pave road" para dun sa mga roads na hindi pa existing sa map sa client app display, it gets submitted to the server but it does not get displayed to others immediately. you can see it on your map editor but the other users will have to wait until it gets processed into the main map tiles. this year there has only been one update and that was last January 30 and the updates that were included were those done before January 14.

There was another scheduled map tile update scheduled yesterday according to the waze status page http://status.waze.com/

bangus236 wrote:thanks kazmuth. there are areas na malabo pa rin ang pinakamalinaw nyang reso. comparing the same area, mas maganda ang resolution ng google maps and also outdated masyado yung ibang tiles (dun sa bulacan area, may areas pa na palagay ko eh 2 years old na mahigit)

this ability to edit the map is both a boon and a bane. accuracy and consistency are both compromised. kaya pala hindi makakita ng route kasi yung mga kalsada, although it looks ok sa phone, sa map editor pala eh putol-putol and yung junction does not allow entry to the next segment. ibig sabihin, hindi pinagaralan nung nag-draw ng map kung pano ang tamang paggawa ng mga kalye. Kaya for routing, highly unreliable ang waze. For traffic updates, konti pa ang users dito sa atin to get complete traffic situations for your way to work or home or wherever. Kanina, medyo accurate yung ETA ko sa bahay, kasi nagaadjust din sya ng ETA kung nagkakaron ng heavy traffic sa dadaanan.

i hope the developers can integrate Garmin or Open Street Maps.

For example, ommission of 'Street' or 'St.' from street name, unless hindi sya street like 'Road', 'Lane', 'Drive', etc. Another siguro is yung to use or not use shortened names like 'Ave.' for 'Avenue', 'Blvd.' for 'Boulevard', 'Hwy' for 'Highway', etc. This would be for easy searching of street names and accurate routing. may nabasa ako na waze treats roads with different names as different roads like 'Marcos Highway' is different from 'Marcos Hwy' and therefore may use a different route. Nakikita ko ito sa C5 when waze routes me to take Kalayaan Ave. instead of going straight to Market-Market because the roads are differently named. Another would be road types, which ones are major or minor highways, primary streets, etc.

dhageuk wrote:guys, lets talk we are going to name roads and road types.
for example:
https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=5&l ... TTTTFTTTTT
if you see the ramp going to bacoor, yung name nya is the road itself as well as yung exit. i decided to name it that way para sa traffic reporting na din. ok lang ba kung ganyan? also.. if going out of a highway i used a ramp instead, kasi magsasabi ng "exit at left" yung navigation guidance kung pupunta ka dun... any thoughts?
given that, whats the best name for this halimbawa?
https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=5&l ... TTTTFTTTTT
also, i see <roadname> (NB) and also <roadname> N and <roadname> (N), which is pareho lng ang meaning. ano sa tingin nyo ang mas maganda and malinis tingnan?
mukhang tama yung same name as the road itself + exit name, ganun din nakikita ko na ginagawa nila sa US freeways. dun sa isa naman, standard yung N, S, E, and W kaysa NB, SB, EB, at WB.

Isa pang question ko sana yun, kelan tayo mag-split ng road? ang hirap ng maintenance ng split roads kaysa dun sa two way lang

bangus236 wrote:kazmuth, sayang kung hindi gagamitin ang OSM kasi ang dami na ng mga kalsada dun sa pinas at ang mga contributors sa OSM ay mga GPS hobbyists talaga, who dont rely on online maps to draw maps. majority is from actual GPS tracks. waze is already using POI databases from other apps naman like foursquare, so sana lang naman marealize nila na mas madali iyon.

i actually promoted waze sa yahoogroup ng waypoints.ph. its a group of gps enthusiasts pero parang di sila interesado.

yung isang road na madaming segments kailangan lang yata siguraduhin na yung arrow at the end (when you click it) should be green towards the next segment. pag red, malamang hindi talaga iroroute duon. pero i checked yung sinasabi mo, parang may maliit na line na nakapatong sa isa pang line which is not connected to the previous segment dun sa intersection ng kalayaan/cp garcia. baka kaya nalilito sa routing.

@dhageuk it seems that we both edited the same segments :) pano kaya mangyayari nyan? taga cavite ka din?
Ito yung official stand nila wrt OSM;
Why doesn't Waze work with OpenStreetMaps?
We are committed to keeping Waze free for our end users who help build the system, yet we're a commercial company who's looking to generate revenue. When looking at the OSM licensing terms, we felt that they might limit us from certain business models in the future, and, therefore, decided to use TIGER maps instead. This may change in the future, however, and we are open to potential cooperation with OSM, and other, similar, services down the line.

use thw old editor in splitting its easier.... split ko sya pag separating roads e
@bangus
nope... lagi lang ako dun hehehe
as much as possible ayaw ko mag-split, para di mahirap i-maintain :D
