Timed toll for ERP Champs reply please

Post by PesachZ
Are there any editors in Singapore who are interested in fixing the ERP gantry segments, so they only show as having a toll, while they are in effect?

Champs if you think this is something you'd like for your country, to allow proper avoidance of the ERP areas only whole the ERP is in effect, please reply.

Hi PesachZ,

This sounds like something we can work on.

Hi PesachZ, we have taken your design and updated it. The toll feature has been active since February 2016. Thanks for all the hard work :)

I posted this on the Facebook page a while ago. The previous CM and another AM preferred not to do it.

I for one believe that it definitely can be implemented; especially in the same way the UK editors did theirs.

Upping the topic since there are several UR saying they are guided through Toll Raods even if they asked not to on the app

Ok, I modified the segment restrictions of one ERP and will review the others.

Hope CM will answer or give their opinion. :D

Great, I don't have editing rights on Singapore, but I helped design Asimilar system in use in the UK. For the one way toll segments, it uses two parallel segments joined at either end. With 10° turn angles. These are placed close enough together while zoomed in so as to appear as a single line in the client.

One branch is marked as a toll road, and the other not. They are set with TBTR, and TBSR for the times the toll is in operation. This way when the toll is active, only the toll segment is routable, and vice versa during off peak hours.

Since there is always only one segment routable, there won't be any navigation instruction at that segment.

Furthermore these ERP gantries have different toll rates (different for public vehicles also) and on a quarterly basis the rates are revised.

Could toolbox be able to help pick out the ERP Gantries and allows rates to be changed as this would help in managing it much better. On the other hand, the Waze Client has no way to tell how much would be deducted from the cash card also.

I am willing to explore and see if we can implement it for Singapore as some would like to avoid ERP gantries and if Waze provides this feature it would indeed help promote Waze in Singapore.
Between validator and toolbox there are several ways the gantires will able to be quickly found and updated.

Waze does not yet support toll pricing unfortunately, it has been requested but is not high on the priority list currently. So our best case scenario is to avoid all tolls (when logical, meaning they wont be avoided if the alternate is a much much longer ETA) during the times those gantires are in effect. I already started mapping the gantries in a way which allow waze to know when they are in effect using overlapping segments, which give no added instructions. They have not yet been implemented, as I need them all to be in place first, and activated for routing simultaneously (otherwise there could be some interesting and significant detours). I've completed about 75% of the CBD area already.

SiewMeng98 wrote:Are we ready to launch the ERP or Go Live for all gantries?
Have all the gantreis been marked properly, if every single gantry is marked with a toll segment. then in my opinion yes we are ready to go live. It seems the local Country Managers are not interested in providing any input here :( so here is my rationale.

Currently the "Avoid Tolls" feature has not yet been activated for the country of Singapore, in part because the tolls were not all mapped properly, and probably because it had not been requested by the local community. Therefore the effect on local wazers from going live is minimal if any at all, since currently they have no means to route accordingly. The only current effect on wazers will be the toll icon displayed on the route overview screen.

Since the current effect is minimal, and it gets us well on the way toward the desired proper routing and ability to request the avoid tolls feature be activated, I recommend going live and simultaneously investigating and ensuring all till gantries are mapped properly, and locked.

Additionaly to simplify future maintenance and price changes, I make two further recommendations:
1) We should make a list of all the erp gantries with their gantry number, and a permalink to the two segments making up the gantry in wme. This will make it very easy to modify a list of gantries in one session when the timing changes.
2) We should add a Place for each gantry over the actual gantry, and they should all be named in the same format
ERP #xx
This will make it very easy to search and locate a specific gantry in wme for updates.
