Real-time traffic sources
Hi,
I am interested from where Waze gets the real-time information about the traffic intensity, so it can detect congestions and slowdowns. For sure, Waze users driving around are not a sufficient base for Waze, as in many big Polish cities (as 300.000 inhabitants) you can find maybe 2-3 active Wazers on the road, while many streets are marked by colors as being congested asnd the delay caused by the congestions is shown. However, this is not always accurate as well. Sometimes, Waze shows the congestion still few hours after it disappeared (for example, the congestion is only during peak hours, while it is still shown by Waze few hours later).
Does Waze get the real-time data shared from Google Maps or other partners? Or does it just use the historical data from other hours/days to mark the congested roads?
Regards.
