Live Map Upgraded!

Post by
Hey everyone,

We made some exciting changes to the Waze Live map. Besides some UI improvements which make the map easier on the eyes, the main changes are where it counts - simplifying and improving the way users can interact with and implement the map. This is an infrastructure upgrade that will enable us to make additional changes and improvements. So what's new:

  • Clicking on the share icon on the bottom right opens a box with the following options:
Embed a map:
  • Copy & paste a simple code to add a small version of the map to your site
Share:
  • Copy & paste a link that will open the app and navigate to the chosen destination
  • Copy & paste a link that will open the Waze Livemap as a web page on the chosen location

This is just the beginning, expect more new and amazing stuff. And as always, let us know what you think.

Thanks,

The Waze team

Er - sorry - am I too stupid or is the feature that showed the turns and routing instructions of a route no longer available?
THAT was useful for me.

@redviper26:A to B route sharing is absolutely ESSENTIAL. You have removed the only official/practical tool the community had for accurately communicating with staff about point to point routing issues.

A>B sharing in Live Map is used hundreds of times a day by the editing community. It is such an important feature, I really think a rollback to the old version is imperative, until A>B sharing can be added to the new version.

Having said that, the new features are AWESOME, and thank you very much for all the great work!

The problem of Livemap reports substituting cryptic numbers for the text that was entered when the report was submitted persists.

This makes those reports worse than useless.

Such submissions are still missing the text of the submitted UR and showing a number in place of the text.

With the recent updates to the Live Map, a problem was introduced. When you search for routes between an origin and destination, the routes are displayed graphically on the map and as a list on the left side of the display. However, now there is a scroll bar next to the list of routes and it doesn't work. This is happening on chrome.

Screen capture is below. (It's being cropped on the right side by the forum.) This is with picked origin and destination. Works the same with dropped pins.

The grey scrollbar is non-functional. If you try to drag it, the map moves. There is no way to scroll the list of routes.

I just discovered a 'work around' for the problem with live map that prevents scrolling the routes and accessing the stuff hidden below that data. (for chrome users!)

press 'ctrl minus' a couple of times!https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/ ... nknown.png
This 'zooms' the view out and makes that list smaller so that you can access the stuff it was hiding!

you can press 'ctrl 0' later to return to 'normal zoom'.

The recent 'upgrade' to livemap seems to have fixed ALL of the problems I mentioned below.
Thank YOU for all the WAZE you help!
YAHO! The problem of the description being replaced by a number when URs were submitted from livemap seems to have been fixed!

However the problem with live map that prevents scrolling the routes and accessing the stuff hidden below that data still exists. The 'work around' I mentioned previously must still be used to get to the stuff that is hidden. (pressing 'ctrl minus' a couple of times to zoom out the display and later 'ctrl zero' to reset the zoom to none.[for Chrome])
