Hi. I would like to know if you could take care of this "issue". Many streets in this permalink are locked by some "abusive" user, which is Level 3 editor (called LouisPR). Though, the streets are incomplete, no names, and wrong driving directions... I am trying to change driving directions and/or adding roads but it is impossible for me. Thanks a lot whit any help about this. Thanks!!

A Map Raid in Puerto Rico will be helpful and I will participate, but having participated in two recent map raids in the US, I can tell a map raid here will have some challenges to the raiders and organizers like:

The limited quality and outdated aerial views of the island. As well as local government resources.

Even when we are not supposed to use components of Google such as "Google Maps" and "Street Views", these components are somewhat limited for Puerto Rico and in some cases nonexistent.

There is no formal "Place Harmonization" rules to standarize how and when a place is to be mapped or not. We should start to elaborate a list of the kind and type of places and how to represent them (point / area) in the map. Maybe we can adopt the rules from any other state, as it is faster copying a good idea than inventing a bad one.

There is no Wiki Page for Puerto Rico

Do not expect 100% of the communications be in english language.

Do not get me wrong, if the Map Rais becomes a reality I'll be there. I point out only some details of the reality of Waze in Puerto Rico, which thanks to the efforts of those who have been or were part of the "Puerto Rico Project" have greatly improved the map but much remains to be done.

Regards

Looks like Puerto Rico needs a MapRaid pretty bad. That's my Home Town and I do know Spanish. Anything I can do to help. Do not hesitate to contact me! :D

Puerto Rico

Postby EthnFrna » Sat Jun 01, 2013 5:28 pm

I recently started editing roads here in Puerto Rico, specifically the San Juan Metro area. I'm finding that besides the lack of street names on most neighborhoods, that many of the highways and freeways are not labeled correctly and are the wrong road type. Although it's not much of a problem because I enjoy correcting them (I think the streets should be labeled in Spanish as they are in the real world and that if a road circles halfway around the entire island it should be a major or minor highway for its entire length), I am running into many, many locks on ramps and some stretches of highway such as Expreso Kennedy.

These locks are extremely frustrating when the road type is not correct or recently, or not so recently added ramps cannot be connected to the highways in question.

Is it just me or is it common practice for an editor to go into an area and lock their edits never to return again to update the roads they've locked?

We had a large team of local and USA editors section up PR last year and really go to work on it. Some have been continuing that quest to this day. Though it was not an official MapRaid because it was not limited to a week or two.

If you have personal knowledge of a specific area of PR, may I suggest you apply to TXEMT, the RC, for an Area to Manage. We do need all the help we can get to continue to raise Waze standards in PR.

Hi... I have some time editing and trying to get a great looking maps for my areas in Puerto Rico. The actual problem that i'm having now is that i'm getting a lot of street randomly locked by a user "amoulier". I just start to update some highway like PR-30 and try to divide the directions in two separate street and I end closing the whole street cause there is a L3 lock that cause that my edit lock the turn directions. is there a way that anyone can downgrade all those ramdom locks on the PR-30, PR-60 and PR-204?

the whole PR-204 also have some ramdom locks

If possible... I work in this industries and they are wrong named... again with a L3 lock... I want to rename them. They correct names are "McNeil Healtcare LLC" for https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=5&lat ... rks=795517

and McNeil 3 for https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=5&lat ... rks=795519

thanks a lot!
