Setting up road closures for Atlanta's Music Midtown?

Post by wmadjones
Is there a way for us to set up the road closures for Music Midtown? I know some roads near Piedmont Park are closed beginning today, lasting through the weekend.

Road Closure link and map.

I'm happy to help, but I didn't want to just go in and start changing road rules without checking on the proper protocols (or how to handle roads closed to normal traffic but open to residents).

Closures need to be submitted about a week in advance to ensure they are taken care of. The map can be edited, but that requires a tile update to take effect and these updates aren't 100% reliable.

That's what Alan is refering to, we have a NEW Traffic Events Center - report the planned closures well in advance (Alan says a week, I say two or more) and they will put into the system automatically - AND without a maptile update. See http://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=815&t=56005 for more information.

Yeah - the more I've looked at the map, there are only a couple of roads that will affect through routing. I wonder if we'll just see if anyone tries a closure through the app for the day or let Waze pick up the incredibly slow traffic and route accordingly.

Good chance we'll see some MPs on ignored routes in a little while around Piedmont Park.

Thanks. I'll remember this for the next big event affecting Atlanta road closures.
