Currently, the GPS tracks can be many months old. They are cutting that back to 3 months as we speak. What should be happening is that as new tracks are recorded, the old tracks disappear. So on a heavily traveled road, you may see only GPS tracks that are a few days old. Lightly traveled roads may show tracks up to the 3-month limit. Still a work in progress.
