Pennsylvania Wiki Page Discussion

The Pennsylvania Wiki page is up and running. Area Managers please fill in the form at the bottom, and add you thoughts.

We are not looking for duplication of the USA standards, just link to the USA pages as appropriate.

MGODLEW, I changed Primary Roads back to Primary Streets to match what they are called in the editor.

If Splitting Roads section is just a regurgitation of the national standard. I'd rather see that whole section replaced with a link.

Talk to Kent about embedding the national standard into the page (that way we only have to edit ONE page) and the info will change on ALL the pages...

I'm also trying to keep the page from getting huge. It's a cool Idea, but I'd rather have a one-line link.

I would like to propose that if someone is an Area Manager in Pennsylvania, they should be required to have in their signature a link to the Wiki also to include their Area Managed & Level. Thoughts?

I created the AM Wiki area the best I could & was able to track down most of the AM's in PA but I'm sorry if I missed anyone. If anyone is unsure how to edit the Wiki you can simply PM me and I will add your Area Managed, any additional comments you might have, and confirm your Edit Level.

Not a problem, I didn't even realize the differential. Good Catch!

That's fine, I agree. I have since "trimmed the fat" from the Wiki & just provided pointers to the national standard page.

I find the wording to be imprecise as far as setting standards. What exactly is a local name? I think that the US-xxx designation should be in the primary name, e.g., Main St / US-999.

Wording like "State Rte xxx format should only be used when naming exits." is difficult to parse.
What you mean is that "SR-xxx format should be used to name exits. State Rte xxx format should be used everywhere else." Some explanation as to why each of "State Rte", "PA-" and "SR-" is used would be helpful, particularly for those who do not see the justification for such complicated but ambiguous rules.

Re: Pennsylvania Wiki Page - New York streets

I would like to see a note of explanation about how to handle New York streets such as these.

I have deleted hundreds of them. I do not know why they were created or why they haven't been deleted en masse. There should be a policy for them.

Generally, you should follow what the street signs say. If it says Main st then label it main st, if it says US-999 then label it us-999.
