Pennsylvania Wiki Page Discussion

Post by

The Pennsylvania Wiki page is up and running. Area Managers please fill in the form at the bottom, and add you thoughts.

We are not looking for duplication of the USA standards, just link to the USA pages as appropriate.

Talk to Kent about embedding the national standard into the page (that way we only have to edit ONE page) and the info will change on ALL the pages...

Current text:
Non-numbered exit: (Exit: to SR-28 S / Pittsburgh)
Proposed Change:
Non-numbered exit: (Exit to SR-28 S / Pittsburgh)
I think removing the colon will help with voice cues by not pausing.
Non-numbered exits should not have the colon in them - see Road Naming (USA) in the Waze wiki.

Made an edit to the FC reference chart found on this page: https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/index.php?ti ... ence_chart

In it, the locking standard for railroads was listed as 5; I adjusted it down to the current standard of 2.

I'm guessing PLRs are being held to the same standard as PRs, but they are missing from the chart.

If you are aware of any similar resources we should add to this page, please add them and post about it here.
There is one for PGW, too.

No, PGW's site is separate from PWD's:

The last offer out out by the city to privatize the agency does not appear to have gone anywhere. Been all quiet on that front lately.

Jackson Pointe drive needs connected to route 19 on both ends. The southern entrance can turn left or right. The northern entrance can only turn south.

I find the wording to be imprecise as far as setting standards. What exactly is a local name? I think that the US-xxx designation should be in the primary name, e.g., Main St / US-999.

Wording like "State Rte xxx format should only be used when naming exits." is difficult to parse.
What you mean is that "SR-xxx format should be used to name exits. State Rte xxx format should be used everywhere else." Some explanation as to why each of "State Rte", "PA-" and "SR-" is used would be helpful, particularly for those who do not see the justification for such complicated but ambiguous rules.

I would like to see a note of explanation about how to handle New York streets such as these.

I have deleted hundreds of them. I do not know why they were created or why they haven't been deleted en masse. There should be a policy for them.
