Up until this version, crash log data was the application crash log file (which is used by our developers to understand the cause of the crash). In some scenarios, an application can crash due to issues with the operating system, and in these cases - the internal crash logs are not enough to collect the relevant information for the crash.

As we realize this has not been explained straight forward prior to the release, and is causing a lot of concern among Android users, we will shortly (in the next day or so) release a new version that does not require the permission to read log data.
Those who will still be interested to helping Waze developers debug the cause for crashes, will be asked to send also system data through a 3rd party application such as 'log collector'.
